The base fare generally includes your stateroom accommodation, most meals (buffet and main dining room), onboard entertainment, and access to pools and gyms. Alcoholic beverages, shore excursions, gratuities, and specialty dining are usually charged separately.
Gratuities (or service charges) are automatically added to your onboard account per day, per passenger. This amount is distributed among the crew (waitstaff, cabin stewards, etc.). You can prepay them before sailing or adjust them at guest services.
Depending on your nationality and itinerary, you will need a valid passport (with at least 6 months validity after the trip). Certain closed-loop sailings have specific requirements, and some destinations require visas. Always check regulations before sailing.
Booking 6 to 12 months in advance usually secures better cabins and early-bird pricing. The best time for the Caribbean is December to April; for the Mediterranean and Alaska, May to September, due to favorable weather.
Cruise lines are usually very flexible with luggage weight (up to two 50lb bags per person), but we recommend traveling light. It is strictly prohibited to bring drones, clothes irons, alcohol (with exceptions for wine), weapons, or illegal substances onboard.
Yes! Most cruise lines allow children from six months of age. Today's cruises offer a wide range of facilities for kids, including supervised youth centers, interactive pools, and dedicated family entertainment.
In the event of a storm or hurricane, the ship's captain closely monitors weather conditions and may alter the itinerary to avoid bad weather. Passenger safety is always the top priority, which might mean skipping a port or changing destinations.
Commonly prohibited items include firearms, illegal drugs, flammable liquids, explosives, weapons, drones, and heat-generating items like clothes irons, kettles, and candles. Hair straighteners and curling irons are usually permitted.
For safety reasons, pregnant individuals who will reach or exceed 24 weeks of gestation by the end of the cruise are generally not allowed to board. If you are under 24 weeks, you must present a medical certificate confirming you are fit to travel.
While COVID-19 vaccine mandates have largely been lifted by most cruise lines, some specific destinations may still require certain vaccines (like yellow fever). It is strongly recommended to review the health requirements of your specific itinerary.
Modern cruise cabins offer private bathrooms, electric outlets, safes, televisions, towels, and daily housekeeping. Depending on the category (interior, oceanview, balcony, or suite), you may also enjoy mini-bars, living spaces, and private verandas.
Boarding documents and e-tickets are typically issued and available to download between 20 to 30 days prior to departure, provided that the reservation is fully paid and the online check-in process has been completed.
Choosing the right cruise line depends on your travel style, budget, and who you are traveling with. Premium lines are great for adults and luxury seekers, while contemporary lines offer thrilling activities and great family-friendly environments.
